PamFax for Android 1.0.3 released

Just now we released PamFax for Android 1.0.3 with some additional automation features to make fax sending even easier.

First of all PamFax for Android will now automatically set itself to the default language as configured in the PamFax Portal. We actually wanted to add this in 1.0.2 but a bug crept in so it did not work.

Another feature of automation was added to the fax number entry. When sending a fax, most of the time you will be sending to a number in your own country. In earlier versions of PamFax for Android you had to select your country code from a list, alphabetically sorted. This is cumbersome so we added auto detection for the country code selection.

Enjoy!

PamFax for Android update released

Today we released PamFax for Android v1.0.2.

We made only one major usability change and that is when entering a fax number the country code is preselected to the country set in your PamFax profile. Reason is that most people send faxes to numbers in their own country so preselecting this removes an additional step. Sending a fax quick and easy is our mission!

We also fixed a rare crash bug.

The next version will be 2.0 and will have a big new feature – direct access to your documents stored on Box.net, Dropbox or Google Docs. Stay tuned!

PamFax quick review on PCWorld

PCWorld posted a short online review on our PamFax service here.

PamFax for Android updated – version 1.0.1 available

Today we released our first update for PamFax for Android. Based on the feedback collected and further usability testing we implemented several changes:

  • Fixed several crash bugs
  • Improved application performance
  • Significantly improved work-flow & added automation
  • Added notification when a fax is pending to be sent
  • Added exit button to quit PamFax
  • Added info button with version information
  • Added support for lower screen resolutions (e.g. 240×400 in Samsung Galaxy3)
  • Smaller fixes and optimizations

The login screen was changed. There is now an explanation of how PamFax works and what you get when you sign up.

Once you have logged in with your PamFax user name or signed up for a new account you will see the PamFax main screen which looks very similar to the other applications (Windows, OSX, Linux).

Sending a document is very simple. PamFax Android will now automatically ask you what you want to send to whom. The workflow is the same as you are used to with all other PamFax applications and the PamFax Portal. No need to learn a new application!

We hope you enjoy the update. Several people were affected by crashes in the 1.0 version and these should be now resolved.

The next version of PamFax for Android will have an option to send documents from online storage platforms like Box.net, Dropbox and Google Docs. Stay tuned for the next version!

PamFax server update released

We have released a server update for PamFax. In this release we have mainly focused on increasing the performance even further. This includes improvements to the website, the server backend and significant speed improvements of the PamFax system itself.

The changes in this server-side update are:

Bugfix: Fixed a button display issue when using Opera to access the Portal
Bugfix: Sometimes a +0 was shown as sender in history list
Bugfix: Minor issues related to Portal login addressed
Bugfix: Unable to delete an unpaid fax
Feature: Added a “Logging you in” message after signing in (PamFax application only)
Feature: Password length feedback provided (when too short or too long)
Feature: Added the ability to add notes to a sent fax
Feature: Full name of purchased products are now shown in the PamFax Portal

A big new feature we added in this release is the “Recommend PamFax” option. We had this feature in PamFax2 but wanted to improve it and make it more attractive for our users. So, it took a while before we completed with this task.

You can recommend PamFax to your Skype contacts (as in PamFax2) and as new options we added Facebook, Twitter, email and promotion via a personalized link. This will enable you to recommend PamFax to different sets of user groups or just place the link on a blog site, etc. And the best thing of all is that for each user who signs up with PamFax we add one free fax page to your account automatically!

Note that server-side updates do not need a new installation of your PamFax application.

We are already working on the next release which will be a “feature release”. Our main focus with 3.0.5 is adding support for Dropbox, Box.net and Google Docs. We will provide seamless integration to your favorite document system allowing you to send any document from PamFax very easily. Stay tuned for more news as we get closer to a release (possibly even this year)!

We hope you like this update and enjoy using our service.

Today the hardware devil struck us badly

This morning a maintenance task was scheduled, the replacement of one of the hard-drives in our RAID system. It was showing some strange behavior and thus our hosting partner decided to replace it.

At 8am German time the maintenance work was started. During this work the RAID controller completely failed which basically meant the entire system was unusable. This resulted in a system outage as the board was being replaced and the data put back on the RAID system.

We’re very sorry for this outage, it is pretty rare for a RAID board to bomb and it has never happened to us before. We took the opportunity and have upgraded the hardware for improved performance.

Once more our apologies for this issue. Our hosting partner will be working on doing further changes to prevent such situation.

Pamela website accessible via www.pame.la

Today we activated a new domain name for Pamela namely www.pame.la. The .la top level domains are from the city of Los Angeles and recently made available.

.la fits perfectly with our product, however our main site will remain to be www.pamela.biz – at the moment we are not planning to migrate the entire site.

New Pamela 4.7 beta available

We just released a new Pamela version for everyone to test. Pamela 4.7 does not have significant new features (besides the polish here and there), but mainly fixes a few annoying issues and improves stability.

We updated the core recording engine with a much more stable one. We fixed issues with the Emotion Player which annoyed some of you and solved the bug that the recording would stop as soon as you added someone to a conference call.

These are just a few of the many things we fixed. Give Pamela Pro a try by downloading from our home page.

We want to know what you think and would like to ask you to give feedback by answering a short survey.

Loewe TVs with our eBay channel

Loewe, the German high-end electronics manufacturer, will be shipping new internet enabled TVs with access to our Jaast-eBay TV channel. We are very excited to see our channel on the Loewe systems.

PamConsult acquires AuctionFlunky

PamConsult has completed the acquisition of the AuctionFlunky platform. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The new service is to be added to the eBay channel available today on Philips Net TV.

Ever looked on eBay for something, could not find anything and then thinking why is there no option to save your search and to automatically receive a notification when the article becomes available? Well, AuctionFlunky does just that. AuctionFlunky is a web based service which enables a user to save a search item for eBay and once the item becomes available on eBay, a notification will be sent to the user so that the user can start to bid for it. This functionality provides an improved customer experience and ensures that a user never misses a new article.

“We are extremely excited about this technology acquisition and will soon enhance our TV based eBay experience with this new service” says Dick Schiferli, CEO of PamConsult.

PamConsult plan to include this function as part of the Jaast “eBay on TV” offering, currently available on Philips Net TV enabled TV sets. When using eBay on a TV, the normal PC environment is not available (it is not so easy to switch back and forth between the eBay channel on the TV and the programs to search for items). Thus the new functionality will make searching on eBay much more pleasant, simpler and effective.

During the transition, the AuctionFlunky website and internet service will not be available to new customers.
