PamFax partners with Tropo

PamFax recently started a partnership with Tropo. Tropo is a powerful yet simple API that adds Voice, SMS, Twitter, and IM (and now fax too) support to the programming languages you already know. Tropo runs on the Voxeo platform.

The folks over at Tropo have created a Ruby gem called pamfaxr and posted a few examples which show how easy it is to use fax in Tropo. There is also a cool video which shows how you can send a fax with your voice!

Click here for more information on the example and links to the sources.

We are super excited about this partnership which will allow for some very cool solutions. Hope you find the Tropo stuff interesting, definitely read the blog post and check out the stuff on GitHub.

As always, let us know what you think.

PamFax updated with new features and improvements

We have updated the PamFax system and added a few new things to further enhance your faxing experience.

A total of 80 fixes and improvements were made. Most of them are server side and thus do not require you to re-install PamFax. We do recommend a manual update if you use the PamFax for Outlook add-on (Windows application only).

The detailed list of changes are as follows.

Bugfix: Implemented fixes for Internet Explorer when viewing PamFax Portal
Bugfix: Users in Canada see currency formatted correctly and the correct country flag when entering a fax number
Bugfix: Updated version of PamFax for Outlook (crash and workflow fixes)
Bugfix: Updated Windows Gadget to address memory leak issue
Bugfix: Occasional endless “preparing preview” dialog
Bugfix: Occasional hanging wizard screens at various steps
Feature: New fax number users receive a test fax to their inbox after the number has been activated (English language users only at this time)
Feature: Added a monthly summary report to the PamFax Manager
Feature: Users with fax number can now activate auto upload incoming faxes to Dropbox, Box.net or Google Docs
Feature: New installer for Windows with simplified installation process

In addition to the above we fixed many user interface related issues.

Should you want to update to the latest PamFax for Windows version, please download it from our website. The only reason we recommend you to update is if you are using PamFax for Outlook as well.

The by far coolest feature we added is auto-upload all your incoming incoming faxes to your PamFax number to an online cloud storage provider. With this update we now provide true bi-directional document exchange! You can activate the options in the PamFax Portal under the menu “My Faxes” and “Backup”.

As always we are looking forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions how we can further improve PamFax.

Bundesliga soccer transfer in Germany failed due to congested fax machine

What an amazing story.

HSV and 1. FC Köln are German soccer clubs in the Bundesliga. Hamburg SC (HSV) player Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting wanted to transfer to 1. FC Köln and the transfer documentation was received too late as the fax machine was not able to deliver the transfer documents on time at 18:00 due to a hardware failure. After 18:00 the transfer window closes and no more transfers are allowed.

Had HSV used PamFax to fax all documents, they would not have had these problems as PamFax is a reliable cloud solution without paper and hardware fax machines!

PamFax for Android 2.0 released

We have released PamFax for Android 2.0.

Main changes in this release are:

  • Added support for sending documents from Dropbox, Google Docs and Box.net
  • Fixed issues with some tablets
  • Fixed bugs

As usual we are eager to get feedback and hope you enjoy the new features.

Pamconsult collects donations for charity cause

On December 24th our company organized the fifth traditional “Weihnachtsglühen” (Christmasglowing) at our CTOs home.

With it we raise money for the Uelzer Tafel. The “Tafel” idea is based on the City Harvest project which was started in USA in 1983 to help people in need for food.

The total donation amount is doubled by PamConsult GmbH. Last year 700€ was donated and thus the Uelzer Tafel received 1.400€ from us.

This year, thanks to more participants, the total amount donated was 800€. In total we are able to donate 1.600€ to the Uelzer Tafel!

Probably more people came this year because it was so freezing cold and we had a nice warming fire!

PamFax for Outlook available

Many business users work with Outlook and thus it was logical for us to extend PamFax to Outlook.

In Outlook you can now easily send an email, attachment, multiple attachments or the email with attachment(s) directly from within Outlook in two simple steps.

After you have installed PamFax you will find a PamFax icon in the toolbar of Outlook as well as a “Send Fax” item added to the context menu of each email. This then starts PamFax for Outlook.

First you get asked what you want to send of the email you selected.

After that PamFax for Outlook will search your address book for fax numbers. This is to take away the hassle of looking for the right number to fax to. PamFax will automatically filter and sort your contacts.

Once this is completed you will see the list of contacts that have a fax number associated with it. PamFax will also automatically correct any phone numbers e.g. with missing country codes, etc.

You can send to multiple contacts as well. Once you have checked the person you want to send to click “Send Fax”. The PamFax application is started and you can select a cover page or just send right away.

If you select no number you can enter a fax number manually in the PamFax application.

Note that PamFax for Outlook is only bundled with the Windows version of the PamFax application and is provided free of charge to help you work more efficiently.

To get it just download the latest PamFax for Windows application from our website at www.pamfax.biz and install it. If you have a previous PamFax installation, it will automatically update. Outlook is required for PamFax for Outlook.

We hope you like the new function and as always value your feedback and comments.

PamFax server update adds Dropbox, Google Docs and Box.net direct access

We released a server update which adds direct access to your documents in either Dropbox, Google Docs or Box.net. We also made improvements to the PamFax Portal for easier use and changed the way we work with PamFax Credit. Our old regulation was unclear and confused some of our users – we fixed this and now your credit will always be available to you!

The big new feature is online storage access. How does online document storage access work in PamFax? We’ve thought a lot about how to make this as simple and intuitive as possible and hope we got it right.

Sending a document (or multiple) is very simple with the new version of PamFax. Select “Online documents” from the options in PamFax.

Then select the provider of your choice from the list and login to the service. Note that PamFax does not store any passwords!

After you have logged in you will automatically see the list of folder and files. You can search and also select multiple files. After you are done select OK and the files will be ready to be faxed.

This is all server stuff so there is no update required of your PamFax on your computer.

We hope you like the new functions, improved design and that it helps you being more productive. As always we welcome your feedback!
