Announcing… Jaast.com

Today I want to announce the new website of our Digital Home products and services division called Jaast.

In the past we have already introduced products and services under this new brand name, but we had not done the website yet. The Jaast.com website unifies some former Scendix products like mcePhone, mceAuction, mceWeather, etc. with the new products Jaast for Wii and Jaast for Ebay on Philips net tv.

Our digital home devision focusses on two main areas:

  1. Providing out of the box solutions which consumers can download and install on their Microsoft Media Center, Wii, etc.
  2. Individual solutions for TV and set top box manufacturers. A prime example is our distribution agreement with Philips where our Jaast platform streams dynamic content to the Philips internet enabled TV sets.

Add-ons back in Skype shop

Recently Skype upgraded their shop platform. This upgrade was done in phases and the initial launch in USA did not include the many interesting Skype add-on applications (called extras).

Now Skype have completed the renovation and put the new catalogue live. There are now a total of four application categories:

  • Business Extras
  • Collaboration Extras
  • Expression Extras
  • Productivity Extras

Of our products the following are listed:

  • Business: PamFax (Windows & Mac)
  • Productivity: Pamela for Skype (currently not yet all editions)

Improved fax transmission to Poland

We have switched to a new provider for sending faxes to Poland. In the past we noticed that the quality level of sending faxes to Poland was not what we require – the failure rate was above average. To fix this a new provider has been found and the quality of service should be back to our normal, high quality service levels.

cashU payment support added

We are proud to announce that we have added the cashU payment system to the Pamela and PamFax stores. cashU is a middle-eastern payment system which is also supported by Skype.

We continue to expand the choice of payment methods. These now include WorldPay/RBS, Moneybookers, PayPal and cashU.

What is cashU? cashU is a prepaid Internet payment service. The user can sign up for a free cashU account, which can be funded using a variety of payment methods. Funds added to the cashU account can be used to purchase products and services on cashU’s growing merchant base.

cashU has provided the middle-east region with a key solution for e-commerce. cashU is a payment platform that is built upon and encapsulates the most sophisticated and up to date fraud prevention systems, cashU reduces the risk of online payments and allows for wider, safer and faster consumer participation in e-commerce.

cashU is available in 28 countries around the world. More information at www.cashu.com.

Welcome Dennis²

The new year at PamConsult starts with a new employee: Dennis. As this is the second Dennis in our team, we have to figure out how to distinguish them both ;-)

Dennis formerly worked for companies like German Telecom. He will do customer support and administration of our company’s infrastructure from our development office in Ebstorf, Germany.

Welcome in our team!

PamFax lower rates for zones 3 – 7

We are happy to annouce the start of a new PamFax year with a price reduction for zones 3 to 7. As we habe mentioned when we started PamFax, we will pass on any reductions in telecommunication costs to our users.

This change benefits users sending to countries in these zones and also people sending to service numbers (mostly zone 7).

Standard rate savings in these zones are on average 22,8% and our Pro Plan subscribers save 13% (less because we had lower rates there already).

The new standard rates are shown below.

The new Pro Plan rates are shown below.

Happy New Year from the team

The entire team at PamConsult wishes everyone a healthy, peaceful and successful new year. We enjoyed 2009 a lot, thank you for your trust in our services and are looking forward to 2010 with a lot of new things.

Pamela hotfix released

Based on user feedback we have released an update for Pamela for Skype. The update was released on December 23 but I did not have time to write a blog post due to the Christmas holidays.

The changes in 4.6.0.44 are:

Change: Added 1680×1050 recording resolution to the video recording options
Bugfix: Video recording could error at about 4 minutes into a recording
Bugfix: Disabling video recording disables audio recording
Bugfix: Quitting a Skype call via Skype could result in the recording not being saved
The bugfixes are really important, they address issues some users have been experiencing since we launched 4.6. I suggest you update by opening Pamela, clicking on “Help” and then “Check for updates”.
