Changes with Skype Credit in PamFax

Skype have recently announced that Skype Credit will be phased out in partner applications. This effects the Windows users of PamFax. On December 11, 2009 Skype will shut down Skype Credit payments in any application which uses this. Any (with Skype Credit) purchased PamFax Credit will obviously remain in your account.

As a concequence we will be switching over to an alternative “Pay As You Go” offer which will allow occasional PamFax users to still use PamFax “On Demand” without needing to buy a monthly plan. The minimum initial credit purchase will be €5 (Skype Credit was €0,99). The reason for the €5 amount is the cost associated with processing smaller amounts.

The good news is that PamFax is still the only product which allows you to send faxes by just paying a small pre-load amount.

This update will be done server side and will not require a PamFax update on your computer.

Its not Dec 11th yet!
Why can’t I still use Skype credit as advertised!!!!

ABe on 5. December 2009

Because we announced in our post from November 18 that we will discontinue Skype Credit support on November 30 with our next update. This gives Skype the time to close down the Skype payment system.

Dick on 7. December 2009

Marco on 9. December 2009

Dick on 9. December 2009

It wants me to pay $7.59 US dollars to send a fax. No way!! I wish it could just take the 0.37 cents from my skype credit.

David on 9. December 2009

Will PamFax be restored in the future with skype?

David on 9. December 2009

There is always a reason when the amount is higher then the standard rates. PamFax is pretty bold in telling you why the cost is higher and even asks you to accept it – it won’t send unless you have understood and accepted the higher cost. The cost is related to sending to service numbers, etc. But of course this could be in error so the best thing is to open a support ticket, provide your account details and then our staff can find out why this is. Apologies for any confusion this caused.

Dick on 10. December 2009

It still works with Skype, just the Skype Credit access has been discontinued because Skype decided to discontinue it.

Instead of min. €1 we had to increase to €5 min. purchase (see blog posts on http://www.pamnews.com). It is still a unique offer compared to other services as we don’t require you to sign up to a monthly plan.

We are working with Skype and are trying to convince them to reactivate the Skype Credit support.

Dick on 10. December 2009

It worries me a bit that I don’t see https:// in the payment window…

chris on 13. December 2009

Where is that? All orders are processed via ssl secured online shop at https://www.pamfax.biz/shop

Christoph on 14. December 2009

it was very good and easy to use our skype credit, it should be resumed soon. thanks…

Laiq on 19. December 2009

Yes, I totally agree. It was an easy way to purchase partner services. Let’s hope Skype reconsiders and brings this feature back as part of a new add-on platform (e.g. like Apple and many others already have).

Dick on 21. December 2009

This is BS. I had to get a fax outday….it errored and I needed to resend,…… only to find out that I cant use it any longer with skype ….how is this free?

Take oit off te free listing!!!!

John Wilcox on 21. December 2009

Where does it say it’s completely free? Sending faxes via PamFax is not free and has never been free. Only the client application and the addons are free and there is no monthly charge like with all the other faxing services out there…

Christoph on 22. December 2009

I bought skype credit only for the pamfax, but I don’t know skype discontinued the services only I want to get the skype credit to pamfax. It still have can$10. what can i do , i want to take back the money to buy the pamfax, otherwise, it will be a waste!

ginny on 22. December 2009

Unfotunately we have no more access to Skype Credit as Skype disabled this function for all partners. Try to get a refund from Skype and then you can purchase directly with us. Apologies for the inconveniences.

Dick on 29. December 2009

Sorry to see a reversal in what would have been an ideal situation for me. I will now remove the 10 minute old installation of PamFax from my PC.

Randy on 2. January 2010

Too bad, you can still buy PamFax credit directly starting at only €5.

Dick on 2. January 2010

you might loose your customers!

caribicfreak on 3. January 2010

I know, but we can not “force” Skype to offer it. It is their decision.

Dick on 4. January 2010

Joan Aro on 6. January 2010

If you are only faxing two pages a year you can better fax from a friends fax machine.

Dick on 6. January 2010

Nils on 7. January 2010

Dick on 8. January 2010

I would have gladly used the service and paid…something upfront. But certainly not EUR 5. I send only a few faxes per year. I would pay EUR 3 upfront but not 5. Please lower your upfront charge and surely you will get much more business

alexander on 11. January 2010

too much ‘blind’ money in advance. at least you should have a test fax offered to 1st time users at actual cost to let people trust your service does work. i’ve had problems with pamfax before and would never give you 5 euros in advance until i’m certain it now works

Gabrielle on 11. January 2010

Yes, I fully agree – €5 was the minimum we could do in relation to transaction cost with low amounts. Note however there are not many services around which work the same way, most of them require you to pay a monthly fee to send. We hope Skype re-considers adding the payment feature back.

Dick on 12. January 2010

First time users have one free page to test the service.

Dick on 12. January 2010

I have been a loyal user for some time now.
I cant use my skype credit, and you wont accept my visa electron card for payment, and it wont allow me to use that method via paypal either.
Therefore I am unable to use pamfax anymore. The hunt for an alternative service has begun…

Xander on 13. January 2010

There is RBS WorldPay, Moneybookers, PayPal and CashU as payment methods now. They all support various cards. If your card is not accepted, please contact the payment provider as we have no influence on their systems and security mechanism at all.

Christoph on 14. January 2010

i wanted to test the service, but I’m not able to, because I only have 14 cents and I need 23 for zone2 :(

however, when I buy some credit (5€) will I have all the money for my faxes or do you take some for administration or transition? and is there an expiration? if I can use the “real” 5€ over the next month or even years, than I can’t understand all the sissies here.

thx for a soon answer.

soon on 21. January 2010

You say first time users have one page free. I don’t see that option being offered when I’m on the fax sending screen. Please explain click by click

alexander on 21. January 2010

so, I couldn’t wait. I just bought the 5€ credit and have sent my fax. it seams that I can use the whole amount (5€), I just hope it will not expire.

@pamfax, it looks professional and i like your service

@all who are living in the past -> read the book “Who moved my cheese”
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=who+moved+my+cheese&x=0&y=0 ;)

soon on 21. January 2010

Yes, you can use the entire amount, there is no fee deducted. You can use the credit indefinitely however you should send a fax at least every 180 days to validate your account.

Dick on 22. January 2010

When you install PamFax you will see that there is already credit present (look in the top right of the PamFax application). This is the free credit which you can use to send a fax.

Dick on 22. January 2010

I bought the 5 euro credit with my visa card but the final cost has been 5.85, of which only 5 appeared as Pamfax credit. So at least with Visa there is an administrative fee.

luk on 31. January 2010

Not really, but as you are in EU we must add 19% German VAT to your order (unless you are a company and entered a EU-VAT number in our shop, then the VAT is removed). So the total amount is €5,00 + 19% (€0,95) = €5,95. Actually it seems you paid €0,10 less :) .
